Acorn Box

Well! Well! Well! I have (surprisingly) won first place in the UKWorkshop monthly woodturning challenge for January 2013. The requirement was to make a lidded box in the shape of an acorn.

My box was made of (what else) oak and stands 60mm high to the top of the stalk. The box is 40mm in diameter. The lid of the box has a band of textured finish, aimed at replicating the roughness of the “cup” of an acorn. Otherwise, the box is smooth and finished with wax.
